Visions in Revolt: A Blakean Critique Through Dialectical Images

What would it be for us to listen to Blake’s call for mental strife in place of corporal war?

What we are witnessing today is an attempt to eliminate the very possibility of peace—transforming peace into nothing more than the peace of the graveyard.

The film Top Gun serves as a paradigm of this. In it, the martial music of “Welcome to the Danger Zone” acts as the binding force that ties together various elements: militarism, car culture, motorbikes, jet aircraft, beachball, high technology, super masculinity, patriarchy, nationalism, as well as the cultural identities of America and Britain.

Inspired by William Blake, I have developed a series of critical images. These images are designed to function as dialectical images, a concept understood by Walter Benjamin.
